Power Line Athletics is pleased to announce the addition of San Diego native and Tony Rico Firecracker graduate, Lisa Akamine, as pitching instructor. Lisa was a four year varsity pitcher, utility player and slap hitter for Escondido High School from 2004 through 2007 and Pennsylvania State University from 2008 through 2012. As a freshman at Penn State, Lisa earned All-Big Ten Third Team while starting 44 games. As a sophomore, Lisa earned her second All-Big Ten Third Team as well as named to the 2010 All-Big Ten Academic squad and also breaking strikeout record at 15 strike outs in a single game . In her junior year, Lisa earned All-Big Ten Second Team and hit the first homerun in Bear Field and Nittany Lion Softball Park history. In her final year at Penn State, Lisa received 2011 All-Big Ten Academic Selection along with CoSIDA Academic All-District Select honors.

After graduating from Penn State with a bachelors of science in Rehabilitation and Human Services, Lisa went on to play professional softball in the Netherlands with Robur 58. There she lead her team to win the Dutch Championship in 2011. Once Lisa returned home from Europe, she started graduate school at St. Augustine University. There she received her Master's in Occupational Therapy. Her clinical rotations specialized in upper extremity therapy including rehabilitation of softball pitcher's shoulder injuries and acute hospital therapy. Currently, Lisa is a Registered Occupational Therapist for Palomar Hospital. She specializes in the acutely ill patient including cardiac and neuro-rehabilitation as well as pediatric sensory integration therapy. Lisa has worked with all age groups ranging from 3 years old to 103 year.

Lisa is excited to join Power Line Athletics as a pitching and slapping instructor. She has a passion for softball and therapy and loves to share knowledge with youngsters who want to be the best softball players that they can be. Lisa's experience as a top tier club, collegiate, and professional athlete gives her a wealth of knowledge to bring to our Power Line athletes. Also, having learned from the best, Don Sarno (pitching coach), Tony Rico (club coach), Michelle Hawkins (pitching coach, Penn State), and Robin Petrini (head coach, Penn State), will empower Lisa to design programs that develop pitchers at all levels!
