SAN DIEGO, California (November 8, 2012) – Power Line Consulting and the The Notre Dame Club of San Diego is pleased to host a University of Notre Dame Hesburgh Lecture Series presentation
“Play Like a Champion Today: Putting Fun and Virtue First in Youth Sports” is scheduled for 7-9pm Friday, December 8th in 1995 ND grad Sara Hayes’ Power Line Consulting. The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited and reservations are required. Lecturer F. Clark Power - Professor, Program of Liberal Studies; Program Director, Play Like A Champion™; Concurrent Professor, Psychology; Fellow, Institute for Educational Initiatives - has been teaching in the Program of Liberal Studies at the University of Notre Dame for 31 years. He also is a concurrent professor of psychology; a fellow of the Institute for Educational Initiatives; and founder of the Play Like A Champion Program for youth sports coaches and parents. He received an Ed.D. in human development from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education in 1979. His research and writing focus on moral development.
The Play Like A Champion Today™(PLC) Educational Series has been crafted by leaders in the fields of education, psychology, coaching, and ministry to elevate the culture of youth sports through child-centered educational practices. PLC teaches coaches, parents, and youth sport administrators through research-based, child-centered educational practices that foster moral, social, and spiritual development.

The Hesburgh Lecture Series brings the Notre Dame campus to communities across the country to encourage intellectual dialogue between alumni, community members, and the Notre Dame faculty.
Power Line Consulting was founded in the fall of 2008 by 1995 Notre Dame graduate Sara Hayes, who, after 13 years of college coaching, decided she wanted to do something that would have a lasting impact on girls in sport. Power Line’s programs are structured to develop the complete athlete through skill training, mentoring, sports performance coaching and to advise athletes how to market those skills to college recruiters. Power Line also consults coaches as they grow their programs and promote their athletes. Power Line trains and mentors 175 athletes each week and has placed over 40 student-athletes in colleges across the country. Power Line is recognized as a leading training and mentoring facility for young athletes in the Southwest region.
